Faculty Staff Housing, a division of the Office of the Provost, provides a variety of programs and information to help eligible Stanford faculty and staff make the transition into a new home as smooth as possible.

University Terrace

Condominium Homes are now available for purchase by Eligible Faculty. A model unit is now open and other completed units are available to tour. The current inventory is available on the University Terrace interactive map at https://universityterrace.stanford.edu/condominium-homes/floor-plans. (updated February 20, 2018)

Lottery Reminder

Eligible Faculty may register for more than one lottery, however Eligible Faculty who have a reservation or a contract on a single-family home in one FSH Housing Lottery are no longer eligible to participate in another FSH Housing Lottery. This does not apply to those who have a reservation or a contract on a condominium home. (updated November 1, 2016)


Reduced Interest Program - As a result of the University’s long-range planning process, the President and Provost have approved a change to the Reduced Interest Program (RIP) for faculty and clinician educators effective June 1, 2018. This change should help address the affordability challenges of first time buyers who purchase a home within the qualifying area.

The loan amount will increase from $100,000 to $300,000. All of the other terms and conditions of the loan program will remain the same, including the interest rate of zero percent. (updated June 1, 2018)

Building Homes and Jobs Act - In September 2017, the Governor signed the Building Homes and Jobs Act approved by the California legislature, which as of January 1, 2018, imposed a new fee in the amount of $75.00 to be collected by each county for every real estate instrument required by law to be recorded. This fee is commonly known as the affordable housing fee.

This fee will now be charged on most of the documents prepared by Faculty Staff Housing related to real estate transactions requiring recording with the county (e.g. a Home Improvement Project that requires a Notice of Non-Responsibility, a lease change, etc.). If Faculty Staff Housing records the documents, the fee will be collected. (updated February 20, 2018, revised October 3, 2018)
