In September 2017, the Governor signed the Building Homes and Jobs Act approved by the California legislature, which as of January 1, 2018, imposed a new fee in the amount of $75.00 to be collected by each county for every real estate instrument required by law to be recorded. This fee is commonly known as the affordable housing fee.

This fee will now be charged on most of the documents prepared by Faculty Staff Housing related to real estate transactions. If Faculty Staff Housing records the documents, the fee will be collected. (updated February 20, 2018)
